The Straits Asia Group's focus on occupational health and safety is paramount.  Each business unit is required to manage its business so as to ensure that the highest standards of health and safety are maintained for its employees, contractors and visitors.  The group utilizes independent consultants to conduct safety performance and systems audits at each location to ensure that the best policies, systems and procedures are applied.

The group recognises the importance of OHS training, with the continual review and implementation of up to date training programs at each operating location, to provide the highest standards of safe work practices, first aid and emergency responses.

Occupational Health and Safety Policy

Straits Asia will manage its business units in such a manner to ensure that the highest standards of health and safety are maintained for its employees, contractors and visitors.

To achieve the highest possible standards the management of each unit are required to:

  • manage activities in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Management Plan which has been established for the Group;
  • actively involve employees in all activities associated with ensuring the individuals health and safety and that of others;
  • ensure all statutory obligations are complied with;
  • take positive action to ensure that all work is done safely;
  • maintain procedures to ensure work is done safely;
  • pursue evaluation, training and promotional activities to ensure that all personnel within the unit have a clear understanding of their responsibilities.
Every business unit is required to ensure that all necessary policies, procedures and systems are in place and to report safety performance to the Board on a monthly basis.
