We maintain a lean Head office in Singapore and have a full management team covering our mining operations in Indonesia.  The key executives who oversee the operating functions are :-

Martin Purvis
Chief Executive Officer

Mr Purvis joined Straits Asia Group in 1997 to develop the Sebuku Coal Mine in Indonesia. He is a qualified mining engineer with close to 30 years experience in the resources industry working in senior management roles in South Africa, Indonesia and Australia. For a large part of this time his focus has been on the evaluation, development and commercialism of coal  opportunities and projects. Through these roles, Mr Purvis has gained extensive knowledge and contacts within the International Coal Industry. Mr Purvis is the Chief Executive Officer of PTT Asia Pacific Mining Pty Ltd.

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. David Lim was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in March 2009. He is responsible for managing all operational aspects of our coal mining business, including exploration, mining, processing, transshipment, environmental rehabilitation, safety, project development and contract management. David is an experienced mining executive with a career in S.E. Asia that spans 25 years in civil engineering, marine engineering, coal and gold mining. He joined Straits Group in 2003 and spent 4 years working at Sebuku mine as the Resident Manager before moving to the Head office team in Singapore.

Chief Financial Officer

Mr Shaun Day has over 15 years professional experience in a range of business and investment banking roles, with particular focus on the mining sector across this period.  He has performed CFO and Treasury roles in ASX listed companies, with in-depth exposure to a number of bank and capital market financings. Mr Day holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA and is a Chartered Accountant.

Executive General Manager, Business Systems and Company Secretary

Graeme Tivey, B.Ec, MBA, is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Company Secretary with almost 30 years experience in diverse range of industries,
multi-national companies and high profile organizations in Australia and in Indonesia. He has lived and worked in Asia for over 12 years. He joined Straits Asia Resources in 2008 as General Manager Finance.

Executive General Manager of Business Development

Lon Taranaki is Executive General Manager of Business Development, a role whose scope covers new projects at Straits Asia’s mines as well as potential take-overs and acquisitions.  Mr Taranaki has over 16 years experience in the mining industry of which 12 years have been in coal, working for BHP Coal, Sedgman’s and as a member of the management team for Straits Asia’s Sebuku coal mine.

Group General Manager, Corporate Relations

Jeremy Figgins joined Straits Asia Resources in 2006. In a career covering finance, commerce and industry he has held positions up to and including Managing Director for international banking and finance organizations such as HSBC, 3i and Standard Chartered. In the commercial and industrial field he has held Directorships, CFO, Company Secretarial and COO positions as well as being the personal advisor to the owners of corporate groups employing over 20,000 people, including some of Asia’s largest and best known companies. Jeremy, a lawyer by background, has lived and worked in Asia for over 25 years.

Managing Director, Marketing

A Bachelor of Business Degree (Hons) majoring in Marketing and Finance, graduating in 1992 and over 16 years sales and marketing experience in the mining industry. Nick has previously held a range of senior commercial roles within Australia and the UK with Rio Tinto and Straits Resources. Nick has been directly involved in the marketing and freight logistics of a broad range of commodities including iron ore, coal, copper, zinc, lead and industrial minerals.
  
ImageFelipe Santos Enriquez
Executive Director, Marketing

Mr. Enriquez joined the original founding company back in 1983. He was transferred to Sebuku when it first began commercial production in about 1997 with responsibilities to set up marketing and shipping functions for Sebuku coal. He is now the Executive Director of Straits Asia’s wholly owned marketing subsidiary, Tiger Energy Trading Pte Ltd.
